Who is My God?
Get out of the way!
I cannot see God.
Your shining performance is blocking my view
Of the One Who deserves
The applause you receive;
I can no longer clap and give praises to you.
I look for His love,
I search for His peace -
Finding neither because you step in to replace
The void needing filled,
My need for a lord,
The longing I've had for acceptance and grace.
I know God is there -
But your power gives strength.
What my mind knows conflicts with all that I feel.
I feel you suffice,
As you meet all my wants,
As you win me to you with your charm and appeal.
You say He is God,
Yet you play the role,
Blessing only those who give honor to you.
Well, I can no longer worship your life;
I'm determined to bow to a God Who is true.
So get out of the way.
I choose to see God.
Your glory no longer will hinder my sight.
God must be my God.
Only His ways are pure;
His love is unfailing, His guidance is right.
